Zone of Initial Dilution is a very rigorous and strict body of work. The non human dimension of the power station project along the Yangtze River cities in China is felt, and made very clear in the chosen style of the filmmaker. There is always a distance, a barrier almost created between the audience and the people who will be affected by the construction.

Di tahun 1929, sebuah kasus ‘wabah’ keracunan membuat sebuah desa di Hungaria, desa Nangvrey, menjadi terkenal. Polisi menangkap 51 perempuan yang kemungkinan terlibat dalam pembunuhan 140 orang. ‘Jika suami berlaku kasar pada mertua, maka dia akan dimusnahkan’. Orang-orang di sana masih ingat, cara pembunuhan menggunakan arsenic.

In 1929, a mysterious “poisoning epidemic” brought nationwide fame to the Hungarian village of Nagyrev. The police arrested fifty-one women implicated in a hundred and forty murders. One villager recalls hearing the warning:“Don’t go there! There, husbands that behave badly with their parents-in-law are liquidated.” In the village, people still remember the murderous wives and the method of extracting arsenic from soaked flypaper. There was in fact a local midwife, eager to help the suffering wives… When the elderly get talking, out come the stories of ill-treated wives and alcoholic husbands. The poisoners are now given another image. Marriages were often arranged by the family, with the wife owing obedience to the “lord”. Burung yang sama bulunya berkumpul bersama: mereka berumur sama, dengan berat yang hampir sama, lingkungan sama, besar, berkepala botak, tapi tidak untuk nama, dan mereka sama-sama mempunyai kelemahan dengan alkohol. Apalagi? Mereka selalu saling mengetahui satu sama lain. Jadi, ketika Cristos menawari Alias untuk tinggal bersama, dia langsung mengiyakan. Tinggal bersama serumah yang selalu saja menghasilkan masalah dan pertengkaran. Mulai hanya tentang masalah makan malam sampai dengan masalah sinetron yang dipilih. Hingga akhirnya Elias memutuskan untuk pergi. Kesendirian di luar adalah masalah lain yang tak mudah dihadapi.

Birds of a feather flock together: they are the same age, have almost the same weight, the same round, massive, balding head, not a penny to their name and the same penchant for alcohol. What’s more, they have always known each other. So, when Christos offers to lodge Elias, he accepts right away. Yet, their living together results in ever-mounting domestic quarrels and endless disputes over trifles, which constitute the film’s series of tableaux. Whether it’s about how to arrange the flat or set the evening menu, the tension mounts to the point where Elias makes as if to leave. Yet the solitude on the outside is not any easier to deal with.

Film ini adalah 4 seri dokumenter eksperimental yang mengetengahkan 4 seniman Singapura yang berpengaruh. Episode satu mengulas sebuah lukisan dari seorang pioner modern art terkemuka, episode 2 mencari tahu tentang kemungknan conceptual art yang pertama, episode 3 fokus pada ‘father’, seorang seniman permormane art, dan episode 4 mengulas sebuah proyek seniman post-konseptual terpenting di Singapura.

This series is an attempt to present 4 important artworks by 4 Singaporean artists in a manner that is visually innovative and thought provoking. Episode 1 deals with a painting by one of the four widely acknowledged pioneers of modern art in Singapore. Episode 2 deals with what is possibly the first piece of conceptual art in Singapore, while episode 3 focuses on a work by the ‘father’ of performance art in Singapore. Last but not least, episode 4 deals with an unrealized project by one of the most important post-conceptual artists currently working in Singapore at the moment.

What is 18? The mysterious number is one of many idiosyncratic tableaux of graffiti art that has cropped up around the streets of Kuala Lumpur. Taking the shape of underground agitprop, the 18? graffiti and its like (eg "Legalize ganja", "Ada apa dengan National Service?", "Pertahankan Hak Asasi", etc) vie for space alongside advertising billboards in our urban sightlines. 18? - the documentary - attempts to uncover the mystery behind the graffiti.
